About

Variety Hong Kong’s mission is to empower children & young adults in need by providing them with opportunities, support and community.

My role

I had the task of designing a clear brand identity and providing the organisation with powerful branding and communication assets.

Defining the Variety brand

A simple and clear visual identity

The challenge was to design an identity that was specific to Hong Kong – a mix of English and Chinese culture and languages – while adhering to the international brand’s guidelines.

After discussing with the team, essential needs were identified, and the focus was put on simplicity and efficiency.

I thought of a brand design that would be simple to understand, replicate, and easy to use.

This rebranding enabled Variety HK to keep a consistent image and reinforce its communication with stakeholders and partners.

Affirming strong brand values

Establishing a digital presence

A website that ticks all the boxes

Most low-income families don’t have the resources to have a desktop computer at home. Moreover, a lot of parents can’t understand English.

With its responsive and bilingual website, Variety HK became accessible on mobile phones to its target audience.

The website allowed the charity to present its programmes and actions to the public, which helped attract mentees, mentors, volunteers as well as corporate and private donors.

How I help clients

“Eric is a rare combination of creativity and pragmatism – this enables him to come up with fresh, visually exciting ideas very quickly and then execute them in rapid time frame. He is patient in working through the client’s multiple stakeholders while focused on delivery of the end goals.”
